Programs
Total Academic Center offers educational curriculums in many different areas. Our focus is on the specific needs of the student and on helping students to achieve their academic dreams. We offer test preparation programs, math and English programs for students from kindergarten to high school, and specialty classes, concentrated on a particular area of the student’s studies. We also provide one-on-one instruction in specific school subjects.
Test Prep Programs
Total Academic Center provides comprehensive preparatory classes for standardized testing. TAC teaches strategies and tactics for problem-solving and time management, as well as reviewing the breadth of the subjects students will be tested on. Students will usually take a diagnostic test before the session begins. Based on the student’s results and personal requirements, suggested coursework will be arranged by TAC.
TAC provides test prep programs for the following:
▪ SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test)
▪ SAT I Reasoning
▪ SAT II Subject Tests
▪ TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
▪ CMT (Connecticut Mastery Test)
Regular Programs
Total Academic Center provides Math and English courses that correspond to equivalent subjects in elementary, junior high, and high school curriculums. The courses are intended to give students a “head start” in their academic studies and to improve their understanding in areas of weakness. Our classes are designed to stimulate minds and teach students to think critically about subjects they’ll be expected to master as part of their schoolwork.
Specialty Programs
Specialty Programs are courses unique to Total Academic Center. These programs differ from our regular programs in their design and format. Whereas regular programs are patterned towards the mastery of specific subjects, our specialty programs are designed to hone and sharpen students’ critical thinking and academic skills. Specialty programs will concentrate on advancing and accelerating students and providing them the expertise they will need to flourish as young scholars.
One-on-one instruction is also offered for students who feel they need individual attention in school subjects.
