SAT II (Subject)
Our SAT II Subject classes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math II are taught by experienced instructors using a comprehensive curriculum that is specifically patterned after the SAT II Subject tests.
The SAT II Subject tests are one-hour timed tests centered on twenty specific academic branches of learning. Each section is scored in a range of 200-800. Students select which SAT II Subject tests they will take.
Many schools prefer applicants to take the SAT II tests; most top-tier universities and liberal arts colleges require at least two. Highly-selective institutions, such as Harvard and Princeton, require three subject tests. Engineering schools typically require the Chemistry, Physics, and/or Math II tests.
Subjects will be reviewed in close detail with the teacher to make sure the student has a comprehensive working knowledge of what will be required on the SAT II test. The teacher and student will go through the study material and discuss every part of the subject thoroughly.
The student will take an initial diagnostic test at the start of the session. Based on the results of the test, the teacher will focus the class on the student’s needs. Throughout the session, the student will take the model test several times, both to show student and to show areas that still require improvement.
Total Academic Center recommends students to take SAT II Subject tests the summer after they complete the subject in school, when they are most aware of the subject. It is typically a good idea to space out tests over all four years of high school, to avoid burnout. Students often take five or more subject tests when applying for college entrance.
These classes are specialty tutoring classes, and days and times are arranged at parent's request. Other subjects may be available upon request. |
