TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
What is TOEFL?
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is used to measure the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers. The TOEFL test is administered in more than 180 countries, making it the most accessible test in the world. Internet-based testing makes it possible to expand greatly the number of test centers and increase access for applicants.
The TOEFL is the most accepted test in the world. It is an admission requirement for many English-speaking universities. When applying to a college or university where English is the language of instruction, your TOEFL scores help the admissions staff determine if your skills in English are adequate for enrollment into the area of study you have selected.
In addition, many government agencies, businesses, licensing boards, and scholarship and exchange programs also require the TOEFL test. More than 5,000 colleges, universities, and other organizations in 90 countries accept TOEFL scores.
For non-native English speakers at the 11th-grade level or above planning to attend college or graduate school, the TOEFL is generally required. Students educated overseas are also generally required to take the TOEFL for college entrance. Some colleges request only TOEFL scores, others may require both TOEFL and the SAT. Check the admission requirements of the institutions to which you are applying.
Total Academic Center provides qualified ESL (English Second Language) staff with significant experience educating and tutoring non-native speakers of all levels, including adult students. Through the course of a session, we expect a student’s score to improve quickly in a short amount of time.
